Dover Covered Bridge

Dover Covered Bridge crosses Lees Creek near Dover in Mason County, Kentucky. Constructed in 1835,1 3 the two-span, 61-foot covered Queenpost truss bridge was built by the Kirk family who operated a grist mill nearby.3 4

The covered bridge received major repairs in 1928 and 1966.2 During one of the renovations, steel beams were added to reinforce the floor. In 2000, the crossing received a new roof, siding and flooring.3

The Dover Covered Bridge was bypassed by a $1 million concrete bridge in 2004.3
