South Fork Grassy Creek Bridge (Old KY 1657)
The South Fork Grassy Creek Bridge formerly carried KY 1657 over South Fork Grassy Creek in Pendleton County, Kentucky. The Pratt through truss was closed to traffic in 1964 when a new alignment for KY 1657 was constructed.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., October 28, 2012, the South Fork Grassy Creek Bridge collapsed when Craig Ruber of Dry Ridge attempted to cross while hauling hay on a tractor. Ruber, a local farmer who served on the Grant County Farm Board and who was the owner of Ruber’s Landscaping and Lawn Care, died at the scene.
