Barkhurst Mill Covered Bridge

The Barkhurst Mill Covered Bridge is a covered multiple Kingpost through truss over Wolf Creek in Morgan County, Ohio. The 81 feet bridge was constructed in 1872 adjacent to the now-demolished Barkhurst Mill.

The covered bridge was later strengthened with the addition of temporary steel bents but later closed to automobile traffic due to deterioration of truss members.2 It remained open to hikers traveling the Buckeye Trail and the North Country National Scenic Trail.

In 2011,2 the county received a National Covered Bridge Preservation Program grant for $406,240 towards restoration of the Barkhurst Mill Covered Bridge.1 Restoration of the bridge began in September 2013 and was finished in July 2014.2
