Little Chickamauga Creek Bridge (Hocking Valley Railroad)

The Little Chickamauga Creek Bridge for the Hocking Valley Railroad near Gallipolis, Ohio was built in 1903 by the Mt. Vernon Bridge Company. The crossing replaced one from October 1880 when the predecessor, the Ohio & West Virginia Railway, finished the line from Logan to Gallipolis.

The Hocking Valley Railroad’s ultimate successor, CSX Transportation, abandoned the line in 1992 when a mine at Minerton closed. The tracks were removed a year later. The Gallipolis to Mills and Kerr to Bidwell was later converted into the Gallia County Hike & Bike Trail.
