Daegwallyeong Tunnels

The Daegwallyeong Tunnels consists of six tunnels along Expressway 50 in South Korea.


The Daegwallyeong Tunnels include:

  • Tunnel 1: 1,830 meters/1,800 meters, constructed in 2001
  • Tunnel 2: 55 meters/60 meters, constructed in 2001
  • Tunnel 3: 60 meters, constructed in 2001
  • Tunnel 4: 705 meters/668 meters, constructed in 2001
  • Tunnel 5: 1,209 meters/1,179 meters, constructed in 2001
  • Tunnel 6: 234 meters/202 meters, constructed in 2001
  • Tunnel 7: 120 meters, constructed in 2001.

The Hoenggye-Gangneung extension, including the Daegwallyeong tunnels, through the eastern mountains of the country, opened to traffic on November 28, 2001.
