The Wyit Sprowls Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge that carries a park road over the Templeton Fork of Wheeling Creek at East Finley Township Park in Washington County, Pennsylvania. The bridge was originally constructed in 1915 on Robison Run Road, where it crossed the Robinson Fork of Wheeling Creek in West Finley, Washington County, Pennsylvania. 2 3 It was named for Wyit Sprowls, a local property owner. 3
Due to mining subsidence, the bridge was relocated in 2000 to East Finley Township Park, where it now spans the Templeton Fork of Wheeling Creek. 3 The move preserved the structure while placing it within a public park setting.
Adjacent to the bridge stands the Jordan One-Room Schoolhouse, built circa 1895 in East Finley Township. In 2005, the Consol Coal Company purchased the schoolhouse and donated it to the township, which subsequently moved the building to the park beside the bridge.
The bridge’s queenpost covered truss was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in June 1979. 1
