The heavens opened up and the rain poured down during my travels through West Virginia, but the sun was shining as I took these aerial and on-the-ground photos of the Wheeling Suspension Bridge, which carries the National Road over the Ohio River between Wheeling Island and downtown Wheeling, West Virginia.

The Dresden Suspension Bridge formerly carried OH 208 over the Muskingum River in Dresden, Ohio. Constructed in 1914, it was closed to automobiles in 1988.

Several weekends ago, I rediscovered the circa 1882 Tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 along the Toledo, Cincinnati & St. Louis Railroad (TC&StL) in southern Ohio.
