Glenville, West Virginia, the county seat of Gilmer County, is located along the Little Kanawha River. It was originally referred to as “the ford” because it was a place where travelers could cross the river. Today, bridges have mostly replaced the largest fords in the area.

The Dresden Suspension Bridge formerly carried OH 208 over the Muskingum River in Dresden, Ohio. Constructed in 1914, it was closed to automobiles in 1988.

The Sidaway Avenue Footbridge is located over Kingsbury Run on Sidaway Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio and has been abandoned since 1966.
