Wheeling Suspension Bridge

New Wheeling Suspension Bridge Photos

Posted on March 27, 2021 by Sherman Cahal
I cannot wait until the historic Wheeling Suspension Bridge is properly rehabilitated. It has been closed to automobile traffic for a while now after overweight vehicles, including errant trucks and buses, damaged the superstructure.

Personally, I’m not sure that it should ever be reopened to automobiles as the weight limit was so low (2 tons) that most SUVs and trucks could not cross it, although they did anyways. The side benefit of the closure is that pedestrians have reclaimed the structure. No longer regulated to narrow, non-ADA compliant sidewalks, people can spread out without care.
